Editorial Review for David's Bridal – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.

I decided to use David's Bridal for our bridesmaid dresses....I loved the fact the girls could try on the style we wanted in the size they wear. Once our dresses came in (they came quick about 2 weeks) they had me examine the dresses to see if they were ok....we had 4 total and 2 out of the 4 were fine. One dress had a small square patch like the sticker had been left on there when the dress was dyed, and took it off once the dye was dry.....and the other dress looked scuffed in the back. When I brought this to the attention of the sales clerk she had to go get a manager. The manager looked at me like I had 2 heads and was rude. She said I don't see anything....so I held the dresses up toward the lighting and she said oh ok I can see it, but it is hardly noticeable...I said well I can see it, and we are not paying for an imperfect dress. She said well we'll take them back and steam them then they should be ok....went back later in the day to get them and they ended up being just fine..... A few days later I had to go and pick up the 4 pairs of shoes they dyed to match the dresses. Three out of the 4 pair were horribly dyed. Missed spots, splotchy, etc. To make a long story short it took 3 times to make them right and a new set of shoes for each girl. I was totally against ever wanting to step foot back in that store until one of my bridesmaids backed out on us last minute, and I had to get a dress with 3 weeks to spare...I called and explained out situation and they gladly ordered us a new dress on a Mon. and it was in on Fri in the same week. They charged us a small rush fee of $20, but I didn't care at that point...so I ended up having a positive experience in the end!
Pros: lots of selection and sizes to try on
Cons: some clerks were rude

I walked into David's Bridal one evening to browse their selection before bringing my mom with me to try on dresses. Apparently this is not okay because the saleswoman continually pressured me into trying on a dress. When I told her I wanted to wait until my mom was with me, she hounded me to make an appointment for the following weekend. I finally had enough and tried to make my escape, but the saleslady actually followed me out into the parking lot and asked if I had made an appointment. When i told her I wanted to wait and talk to my mom first and see if she already had plans that Saturday, she looked like she could have punched me. The few seconds I was able to look at dresses in solitude, I noticed that they were way overpriced. Needless to say , I will not be going back and I ended up finding the perfect dress at a bargain elsewhere in town.
Pros: Wide selection
Cons: Pushy salespeople, chaotic atmosphere, overblown prices
